A Brief History

The Guernsey Enterprise Agency  (GEA) has been running in various forms for over 20 years. For most of that time it operated as a one person operation offering a limited amount of time to potential clients. Under the current team approach the Agency has four Directors it can call upon to meet clients and is flexible in its approach to meeting times. The range of skills amongst the Directors is also such that it can offer a wide range of skills and experience to each and every client.

Tina James – Director – GEA

Graduating with an Honours Degree in Business Studies, Tina began her career developing business processes and systems strategies for well-known brands such as Olay, Vaseline and Vicks.

Returning to Guernsey in 1987 she helped set up and managed an IT Consultancy and service company.

For the last 10 years Tina has been in an Advisory role with another local organisation and she can contribute a breadth of local and business knowledge to assist business start-ups. Contact Tina on: tina@gea.gg

Tony Brassell – Director – GEA

Tony joined the Enterprise Agency after a long career in the Civil Service.

He was Business Development Manager in the Commerce and Employment Department of the States of Guernsey.

His roles covered areas as diverse as Housing Licences, Planning issues and the Marketing of the Island. Contact Tony on: tony@gea.gg

Peter Walters – Director – GEA.

Formerly New Business Development Director for Specsavers Optical Group.

Peter brings to the agency a wide breadth of knowledge in several sectors.

These include manufacturing, franchise development and property developing, leasing and buying. Peter brings this expertise and experience to all aspects of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency and it’s work on the Island. Contact Peter on: peter@gea.gg

John Stares – Managing Director – GEA

Formerly a consultant with Accenture, John has a vast experience of business strategic development gathered in his time at Accenture where he has held various senior and Executive positions for the company.

John brings both hands on management experience and global consulting expertise to the Guernsey Enterprise Agency and it’s members. Contact John on: john@gea.gg

Our Partners

The Agency is also supported by several “partner” organisations to which we owe a great debt of gratitude. These are the Commerce and Employment Department, the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Guernsey Industry (CGI) and the Guernsey International Business Association (GIBA).

Conflicts of Interest

The Advisors of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency are all employed on a part-time basis and as such it is not unknown for them to undertake other work. To enable this to happen in a way which doesn’t compromise their position within the Agency a system for dealing with potential conflicts of interest has been established. This is specifically for dealing with situations where Advisors are asked to undertake work by their clients.
